Faculty Research on Sufficiency Economy Businesses Published as a Book Chapter Launched Worldwide |

A book chapter by CMMU’s Associate Professor Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra, entitled “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: A Thai Approach to Sustainable Enterprises”, has been published in a management textbook recently launched worldwide. The textbook, entitled “Sustainable Leadership: Fresh Thoughts”, provocatively covers diverse topics related to establishing sustainable leadership in different national and industry settings. The CMMU book chapter explains King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand’s philosophy of Sufficiency Economy, and discusses eight years of research findings that endorse the King’s philosophy as an approach to sustain firm competitiveness in Thailand and abroad. It is the first time the King’s philosophy is extensively featured in an international management textbook. CMMU is the first business school in the world which incorporates the royal philosophy of Sufficiency Economy in its curriculum, confirming its status as a leading business school in Asia. |

A paper by Chatchai Chatpinyakoop, CMMU deputy head of research, has been accepted for presentation at the prestigious Strategic Management Society conference 2012 (SMS) in Prague, Czech Republic. The paper, titled “Integrating Problem Based Learning and Computer Simulation in Enhancing Strategic Management Learning” is co-authored with Awiruth Keshagupta, CMMU alumnus. The paper studies CMMU’s unique Problem based learning (PBL) approach and analyzes the impact on student learning. SMS is the leading academic society in the field of strategic management, publishing the renowned Strategic Management Journal (SMJ), one of the top journals in management.

An article on “Personal values and mall shopping behavior: The mediating role of intention among Chinese consumers” by Dr. Yuanfeng Cai, CMMU Ph.D. graduate, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Randall Shannon, CMMU faculty member, has been published in the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management. The article identifies personal values that determine the mall shopping behaviour of Chinese consumers, such as self-transcendence and self-enhancement, which are markedly different from the values driving the shopping behavior of Western consumers. The International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management is indexed in the Scopus database and in the 1st quartile of the Scimago journal ranking. This research is a part of Dr. Yuanfeng (Bonnie)'s doctoral dissertation at CMMU, and the 2nd article published in an international journal.
