CMMU-Hako Town New Entrepreneur Project

On 12 June 2012, on behalf of the College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU), Prof. Dr. Rassmidara Hoonsawat, Dean of CMMU, signed a one-year MOU with Khun Marut Chalotorn, Managing Director of Hako Town Co., Ltd., on "CMMU-Hako Town New Entrepreneur Project". This MOU between CMMU and Hako Town Co., Ltd. is to give volunteer students from the CMMU International Program a great opportunity to have a hands-on experience in starting up and running Hako Town’s new restaurant business.

Hako Town, located on Pradit Manutham Road (near CDC Crystal Design Center), is a charming open air Japanese cuisine pavilion of eight unique cubicle restaurants. According to Khun Marut Chalotorn, Hako Town has launched its soft opening since Saturday 9 June 2012 to fine tune its operation system before the official grand opening in July or early August this year and the 15 participating CMMU students have been given the authority to run 6 out of 8 Hako Town restaurant units like they were the business owner.
In addition, to make this new restaurant business a success, the students must think and work like real business owners; they have to lay out the business strategy, recruit their own employees, design the right marketing plan, and implement an effective operation system. Khun Marut also said that, as part of learning, while participating in this CMMU-Hako Town New Entrepreneur Project, the CMMU students would actually have to go through all stages of setting up a new business: startup phase, quality control phase, cost reduction phase, and profit making phase. At the end of the project, the students will likely gain invaluable hands-on entrepreneurial experience and self-confidence in setting up their own SME business in the future.
