Congratulations to CMMU Students in Bangkok Business Challenge 2007.
In early March, two business plan teams from the College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU) competed in the presentation rounds of the Bangkok Business Challenge. The teams qualified against more than fifty teams from across the region to be included among the sixteen teams in the presentation rounds. Both teams excelled with positive assessments and constructive suggestions for their future challenges.
One of our teams, Castilla triumphantly won their way to a prize as finalists. Castilla’s next challenge is the presentation rounds of the Asia Moot Corp 2007 competition in Bangkok from March 20th to 22nd.
The team Castilla (the name of the variety first cultivated as a rubber tree) will present their business plan for their company producing higher performing yet less costly rubber compounds containing a much larger proportion of natural rubber than was previously possible. An exciting, attractive proposition in Thailand, the largest producer of natural rubber.
CMMU’s other team, StarchLab, competes in the New Venture Championship in Oregon, USA from April 12th to 14th. StarchLab is a specialized research company bringing to market value-added products derived from natural starches. Their first product is a medical tablet filler based on tapioca starch for supply to pharmaceutical companies. StarchLab’s major focus is tapioca and rice starches; these two crops are major resources for Thailand.
